McRoskey Airflex Mattress Co. Debuts Chic Dog Mattress

(Los Angeles) – Taking doggie décor to an entirely new level, San Francisco’s renowned McRoskey Airflex Mattress Company creates a ultra-comfortable dog mattress for society’s most privileged pets.
“McRoskey was recently approached to create a mattress for an architect-designed doghouse, which led to the development of this highly anticipated dog mattress,” explains Stephanie Todd, Marketing and Retail Director for McRoskey Airflex Mattress Company, whose mattresses have been satisfying San Francisco area consumers for over 100 years. “Knowing that McRoskey offers incredible customization options on mattresses and box springs, many clients have been asking for a while about the availability of such luxury products to reward their most trusted and loyal companions.”
Similar to McRoskey’s mattresses for humans, this elegant dog mattress is manufactured with a flexible innerspring that makes each mattress resilient and comfortable. The steel innerspring units are born from wire shaped on coiling machines. The coils are crimped and “laced” together with wire helicals that render a unique hinged flexibility, and are subsequently baked in the oven at 450 degrees for 45 minutes. The filling in each mattress is made of carefully selected cotton fibers and polyester fibers. No foam is used. Thus, each mattress offers form-fitting and durable support, while caressing the dog’s body from head to toe and absorbing pressures.
The new dog mattress is available in the Gentle Firm comfort, the same comfort as the McRoskey baby crib mattress, in a standard dimension of 27 by 35 inches, which can be customized at an additional cost. While it is possible to alter the length, width and height and create rounded corners, it is not possible to produce ovals, hearts and circular forms. The dog mattress is covered in a standard blue/white stripe and grey/white pinstripe Belgian ticking and retails for $350. The optional slipcover, also available in the blue/white stripe and grey/white pinstripe ticking, costs $150, and customers can also bring in their own fabric if desired. The optional slipcover allows for easy dry cleaning.
The McRoskey Airflex Mattress Company was formed by brothers Edward and Leonard McRoskey in 1899, who arrived in San Francisco and brought with them a patented mattress-making machine which Leonard had invented. After having difficulties selling this patented machine, they opted to produce mattresses themselves, an enterprise that led to resounding success. Robin Azevedo, the granddaughter of Edward McRoskey, is the current company president.
In addition to selling mattresses, the McRoskey Airflex Showroom in Los Angeles retails a line of mattress pads, luxury linens, synthetic and down pillows, as well as synthetic and down comforters. The Los Angeles Showroom is located at 111 South Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles. The mattresses and box springs are also now available through Sublime in New York, the new furniture showroom specializing in high-end American design (tel. 212.941.8888).
